Design is an appearance of the whole or a part of a product. Design can also be composed of the features of the product itself and/or its ornamentation, in particular, the lines, contours, colors, shape, texture and/or materials. When the Hague Convention on Registration of International Industrial Designs went into force this year the applicants of Geneva act will have new possibilities to register designs in different countries simpler and cheaper. It is a pity that interest of Lithuanian applicants to register design is not big: in year 2007 the Lithuanian State Patent Bureau received just 27 applications to register design. Meanwhile the OHIM received almost 80000 applications to register European design, from which 62 applications were from Lithuanian applicants. Our law firm has a great experience preparing legal documents for registration of European Community design: only in 2007 we filed 42 applications to register European Community design.
