On September 15, 2009, the Appeals division of the Lithuanian State Patent Bureau has dismissed opposition No. 2201 of the interested person UAB „VANAGUPĖ“ regarding cancellation of the trademark “VANAGUPĖ” registration No. 56537 owned by UAB „ESKOM“.

The opposition was based on the identity of the opposed trademark which is made of a single word VANAGUPĖ, to the interested person’s company name. However the interested person has not provided any evidence that the company had operated any identical or similar commercial activities, which could be related with services for which the opposed mark is filed, prior the filing date. Therefore, the opposition was dismissed and the trademark "VANAGUPĖ" registration was maintained.
